Connecting with college students

During the 2023-2024 school year, Seaboard Drilling demonstrated drilling techniques on three college campuses. By participating in these events, we hope to inspire students to consider our industry as their future profession.

In September, our Bangor, Maine office teamed up with Dr. Aaron Gallant at the University of Maine to provide civil and environmental engineering students with an opportunity to see a drill rig in action. Kevin Hanscom worked as the Driller for this demonstration and Jayson Wall as the Drilling Assistant.

UMaine drilling demonstration – September 2023

Team members from our Somersworth, New Hampshire location visited the University of New Hampshire in March to demonstrate drilling techniques for a civil engineering soils class. Matt Bussey served as Driller and Jon Woodruff as Drilling Assistant.

In April, team members Will Williams (Driller) and Adam Morse (Drilling Assistant) participated in a drilling demonstration at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Thank you to Dr. Ryan Beemer for inviting us to campus!

Jess Smith, Director of Health & Safety, attended the demonstrations in Maine and Massachusetts and shared important safety information with the students.

Thank you to all our team members who participated in these events!

We value making connections with students interested in our industry. We were impressed by the level of engagement and the questions the students asked. We look forward to participating in more demonstrations next school year.
